"I'm proud of the girls, I thought we did a good job coming out and battling in the first half," said Head Coach Denise King. "We kind of lost our rhythm at the start of the second half and they were able to open up that lead. I think we showed how capable we are as a team and as a unit tonight."

The River Hawks jumped out to an early 7-2 lead, before Michigan went on a 6-0 run to take control. The Wolverines would extend their lead before junior Jaliena Sanchez knocked down a three pointer as the shot clock expired, bringing UMass Lowell within six at the media timeout of the first quarter. Out of the break, the River Hawks defense found a rhythm and was able to limit the Michigan chances. At the end of the first quarter, Michigan led 23-17.

The River Hawks opened the second quarter with plenty of energy, cutting into the Wolverine lead and forcing Michigan into difficult shots. The River Hawks held Michigan scoreless for just under three minutes, trailing 27-21 at the media timeout. The Wolverines went on a 6-0 run to open a 10-point lead, before senior Kharis Idom (Orlando, Fla.) knocked down a big three to bring the River Hawks back within single digits. UMass Lowell hit a bump offensively and turned the ball over twice, as Michigan took a 39-26 lead into the half.

The second half would prove to be a difficult one for the River Hawks, as Michigan began the second half with a 9-2 run to open a 20-point lead. Junior Denise Solis added a team-high five rebounds and added four points. Sanchez led River Hawks with nine points and four assists. The Wolverines continued to roll offensively in the fourth quarter and would go on to win the game 73-54.

"Ivory [Finley] came in and did really well for us, we are really proud of her. We know what she's capable of and I think tonight was a good sign of what's to come for her," said King. "I am really pleased by our out-of-timeout execution, the girls are locked in and focused. I think we made Michigan work tonight and that is a good sign of our team. We showed our grit and toughness tonight and we'll try to continue that moving forward."
