LOWELL, Mass. -- Senior goaltender Tyler Wall (Leamington, Ont.) amassed 30 saves for the No. 14 ranked UMass Lowell Hockey team in the 1-1 tie on Friday night vs. Maine in Hockey East play at the Tsongas Center. 

The River Hawks after the tie own a 6-2-3 overall record (3-0-2 HEA), while Maine moves to 5-2-2 overall and 2-1-2 in Hockey East play.

"I thought it was a good hockey game, I thought both teams competed hard and both goalies were excellent as forecasted," said UMass Lowell Head Coach Norm Bazin. "We had some lulls, it wasn't a perfect game for us, but overall there were some positives."

Mitchell Fossier tied the game up for Maine at 1-1 with 8:49 to go in the third period for his first tally of the season. 

Freshman forward Carl Berglund (Hammaro, Sweden) notched his fifth goal of the season to make it a 1-0 game in favor of the River Hawks just 41 seconds into the second stanza via the power play. 

The teams skated to a scoreless opening period with Maine owning a 10-7 shot edge. 

UMass Lowell outshot the Black Bears, 37-31 for the game, which included a 16-5 advantage in the second frame. The River Hawks went 1-for-3 on the power play in the tie and killed off the only Maine power play of the night. 

Wall recorded 15 saves in the third period and overtime for the River Hawks and totaled 10 saves in the opening period. The Mike Richter Award Candidate has now posted 30+ saves in seven of 10 games this season, which includes at least 30 stops in each of the last four games. 

Jeremy Swayman totaled 36 stops for Maine in the tie, which included 15 second period saves.

Freshman forward Matt Brown (Wood Ridge, N.J.) amassed a game-high six shots on goal for the River Hawks.

UMass Lowell returns to action on Saturday, November 9th for the series finale against Maine. Game time from the Tsongas Center is 6 p.m. The game will be streamed nationally and internationally via CBS All-Access.
