LOWELL, Mass. – For the second consecutive game,
Alejandro Osorio (Hollywood, Fla.) scored the lone goal as the UMass Lowell men's soccer team picked up its sixth win in a row with the 1-0 shutout of Harvard in non-conference action on Tuesday night.
The River Hawks (7-2-1) knotted the longest winning streak in their short Division I history and have now recorded five straight 1-0 victories.
"I thought it was a tough start early on, but a great performance overall after we got going," noted Head Coach
Christian Figueroa. "I thought we came out feeling really good in the second half and created some opportunities. Obviously we would like to see some more goals, but getting another clean sheet here at home is big as we try to carry this momentum to conference play."
After a tight first half, Osorio recorded his second goal in as many games as he flicked a beautiful header over the keeper, as
Roko Prsa (Sisak, Croatia) placed the entry ball right on the senior's head.
Harvard's Oskar Nillson made six stops and had another shot cleared off the line by a defender in the effort, as the hosts outshot the Crimson 21-7, including a 15-4 difference in the second half.
In the opening 12 minutes, UMass Lowell eclipsed the program's consecutive shutout minute mark of 403:33, set during the 2018 season.
As the lone keeper between the pipes during the streak,
Patrik Gujic (Bjelovar, Croatia) extended his individual consecutive shutout minutes program record to 482:20. The sophomore's fifth straight shutout is also a new program record as well.
The River Hawks resume America East action with a road trip to UAlbany for Saturday night's matchup at 7 p.m.
