ALBANY, N.Y. -- The UMass Lowell men's soccer team suffered its first loss in over a month, dropping a league contest 2-0 to UAlbany on Saturday night to snap the team's six game winning streak,
The River Hawks (7-3-1, 2-1-0) saw the program record consecutive shutout minutes streak halted at 496:32 as the Great Danes (6-4-1, 2-1-0) opened the scoring in the 15th minute on the first of Austin DaSilva's two goals. UMass Lowell saw itself facing a deficit for the first time since September 10.
"Tonight came down to a couple of errors on our end that led to UAlbany's goals," said Head Coach
Christian Figueroa. "Credit to them as they came out sharp in front of their home crowd. We'll have to clean things up and take better care of the ball going forward."
DaSilva extended the UAlbany advantage in the 54th minute, as the hosts outshot the visitors, 10-8, with each goalkeeper making a pair of stops.
Chase Reichenberg (Hamburg, Germany) led the River Hawks with two shots, while
Stanley Alves (Minas Gerais, Brazil) and
Giuseppe Granara (Cagliari, Italy) recorded the attempts on target.
UMass Lowell welcomes New Hampshire to Cushing Field during Homecoming on October 19. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m.
