BURLINGTON, Vt. -- The UMass Lowell men's soccer team suffered a 2-1 defeat at Vermont on Saturday afternoon, suffering the team's first three-game losing streak in over a year.
Stanley Alves (Minas Gerias, Brazil) scored his fourth goal of the season to give the River Hawks (7-5-1, 2-3-0) the lead in the fourth minute, to tally his squad's first score since October 8.
"It was a physical and hectic game in the first 30 minutes," commented assistant coach
Abel Wasswa. "We were able to get control of the game the rest of the way, but unfortunately it came down to a couple of errors early, and we have to sort out moving forward."
The Catamounts (9-5-0, 4-1-0) responded with two scores in the first half to take the lead. Rasmus Tobinski equalized in the 25th minute, and teammate Ivar Orn Arnson added the difference maker in the 38th minute.
Alejandro Osorio (Hollywood, Fla.) led the visitors with three shots, with two on target, and
Renato Kauzlaric (Zagreb, Croatia) picked up his fifth assist of the season.
The River Hawks wrap up their non-conference slate with a visit from Brown on October 30 at 7 p.m.
