River Hawks skate to scoreless tie in series finale vs. Colgate

Tyler Wall totaled 25 saves for his eighth career shutout for UMass Lowell

LOWELL, Mass. -- Senior goaltender Tyler Wall (Leamington, Ont.) stopped 25 shots for his eighth career shutout to help earn a scoreless tie against Colgate on Saturday night at the Tsongas Center on Homecoming Weekend in front of 5,045 fans.

The River Hawks now own a 3-2-1 overall record, while Colgates moves to 1-3-1 overall. It marks the fourth scoreless tie in program history and the first since February 2, 2007 at Boston University.

"It was a better game tonight for us than last night," said UMass Lowell Head Coach Norm Bazin. "I thought our d-zone was better, our penalty kill was good, I thought our goaltending was excellent. There were lots of chances on both sides and both goalies were excellent."

Wall stopped 12 shots in the second period and eight in the first stanza. Colgate's Mitch Benson had another solid effort with 35 saves, which included 12 in the opening stanza.

Seth Barton (Kelowna, B.C.) and Colin O'Neill (Odenton, Md.) each registered a game-high five shots on goal, along with Bobby McMann from the Raiders. O'Neill had a great chance with 13:30 to go in the third period, but he could not get the puck by Benson.

The River Hawks outshot Colgate 35-25, which an included an impressive 8-0 advantage in the extra frame.

Sophomore forward Lucas Condotta (Georgetown, Ont.) won a game-high 11 face-offs on the evening. Junior blueliner Anthony Baxter (Oakville, Ont.) finished the night with a game-high four block shots.

UMass Lowell returns to action on Friday, October 25th against Boston University. Game time from the Tsongas Center is 7 p.m. The game will be televised regionally on the New England Sports Network (NESN).
