No. 19 River Hawks earn 6th straight win after 3-1 victory at Boston College

Reid Stefanson notched two goals and Ryan Dmowski potted his third straight game-winner for the River Hawks

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Freshman forward Reid Stefanson (Winnipeg, Manitoba) scored a career-high two goals and senior forward Ryan Dmowski (East Lyme, Conn.) notched his third consecutive game-winning tally to lead the No. 19 ranked UMass Lowell Hockey team to a 3-1 road victory at Boston College on Friday night at Conte Forum in Hockey East play.

The River Hawks improve to 14-8-1 overall (8-4-1 HEA) and extend their win streak to six games, which is the longest current win streak in the nation among Div. I teams. BC drops to 8-12-2 overall (8-4-2 HEA) with the loss.

"Getting 10 road wins in tough, I thought the guys hunkered down in the third period and made that one of their better periods," said UMass Lowell Head Coach Norm Bazin. "The first period is important here, because they come out storming and they did that. We matched their effort in the first, I thought they took it to us a little bit in the second and fortunately for us we were able to regroup in the third."

Stefanson added his second on the night with an empty netter with 31 seconds to play to seal the win for the River Hawks.

Dmowski scored his eighth of the season with a blast from the slot to break the tie and give the River Hawks a 2-1 lead with 15 minutes to play in the third.

BC's Jack McBain evened the game at 1-1 for the Eagles with 3:31 to go in the second stanza for his fourth tally of the year.

Stefanson (Winnipeg, Manitoba) got the River Hawks on the board first in the game with his fourth career goal via a power play, just 2:32 into the contest. UMass Lowell outshot BC, 10-6 in the first frame.

Junior goaltender Tyler Wall (Leamington, Ont.) stopped 24 shots in his seventh win of the year, while his counterpart Joe Woll recorded 20 saves in the losing effort for Boston College.

The River Hawks finished the night a perfect 4-for-4 on the penalty kill. Sophomore forward Connor Sodergren (Tewksbury, Mass.) tallied two assists for UMass Lowell on the night.

UMass Lowell returns to action on Saturday, January 26th in the series finale vs. the Eagles. Game time from the Tsongas Center is 7 p.m. with the game being televised regionally on New England Sports Network (NESN).
