LOWELL, Mass. – Stanley Alves (Miras Gerais, Brazil) picked up his third goal in two games, as the UMass Lowell men's soccer game extended its unbeaten streak to four games with the 1-0 win against Central Connecticut on Sunday afternoon.

Alves scored the lone goal in the third minute, after a CCSU turnover that Mayale Malango (Kinshasa, Congo) collected and sent to the forward in the box. The redshirt junior used a quick touch to send the shot through the Blue Devil keeper.

The visitors could not a register a shot until the 41st minute, and the River Hawks had both attempts on net in the opening 45 minutes.

Both teams had even pressure in the second half, with both defenses stepping up to the challenge. UMass Lowell had a pair of opportunities that lead to a block and a save, while the visitors forced
Zach Rowell (Haverhill, Mass.) to make plays and had a game-tying chance just miss the post in the 68th minute.

Moments after CCSU sent a free kick over the crossbar in the 73rd minute,
Alejandro Osorio (Hollywood, Fla.) came close to doubling the lead.

The last 10 minutes saw
Roko Prsa (Zagreb, Croatia) send his attempt inches wide, and CCSU have a chance get blocked away by the River Hawks defense.

UMass Lowell is off until Sept. 6, as the team travels to Harvard for a 7 p.m. contest. The game will air on NESN and ESPN+.
