BOSTON, Mass. – Stanley Alves' (Minas Gerais, Brazil) two second-half goals sent the UMass Lowell men's soccer team unbeaten streak to three games, with a 2-0 win at Boston University, on Friday night.
The redshirt junior broke the scoreless tie for the River Hawks (2-0-1), in the 73rd minute when he sent
Renato Kauzlaric's (Zagreb, Croatia) deep cross inside the right post with the flick of his head. The forward completed the brace just five minutes later, as his shot just snuck under the Terriers' (0-2-1) William Bonnelyche.
Roko Prsa (Zagreb, Croatia) and
Alejandro Osorio (Hollywood, Fla.) picked up assists on the second goal of the night.
BU did not record its first shot on target until the 81st minute as the UMass Lowell defense was able to smother any threat. The River Hawks outshot the hosts, 10-8, and had five shots on net.
Alves' first tally came just minutes after
Ivan Abramovic (Zagreb, Croatia) had his attempt float inches wide. In the 80th minute, the forward had a chance for the hat trick, but his shot went high and over the crossbar.
The River Hawks wrap up the weekend with a Sunday matinee against Central Connecticut at 1 p.m. in the friendly confines of Cushing Field.
