Four River Hawks attend NHL Development Camps

LOWELL, Mass. -- Four UMass Lowell Hockey student-athletes will participate at National Hockey League (NHL) development camps beginning this week with their respective teams that drafted them.

Rising junior forward and assistant captain Ryan Lohin (Chadds Ford, Pa.) will take part in the Tampa Bay Lightning camp which goes from June 26th to 30th at the Ice Sports Forum in Brandon, Fla. Lohin led the team in scoring in his sophomore campaign with 25 points (9g,16a) in 36 contests. Rising freshman defenseman Seth Barton (Kelowna, B.C.) who was a recent draft pick with the Detroit Red Wings will take part in his first development camp from June 26th to June 30th at the BELFOR Training Center inside Little Caesars Arena. Barton played last season for the Trail Smoke Eaters in the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL) and was selected by Detroit with the 81st pick in the third round in the 2018 NHL Draft last Saturday.

Sophomore defenseman Croix Evingson (Anchorage, Alaska) will participate in the Winnipeg Jets camp at the Bell MTS Iceplex from June 25th to June 29th. He totaled six points (1g,5a) in 16 games as a freshman in 2017-18. Junior goaltender Tyler Wall (Leamington, Ont.) will take part in camp with the New York Rangers at the MSG Training Center from June 25th to June 29th.Wall has posted a 29-19-1 record in two seasons with the River Hawks, to go along with a 2.49 GAA, a .905 save percentage and three shutouts.

In addition to the four current River Hawks, former defenseman and assistant captain Chris Forney (Thief River Falls, Minn.) who recently graduated will attend camp with the Anaheim Ducks at THE RINKS - Anaheim ICE starting on July 1st.

The River Hawks officially open their season on Friday, October 12th against RIT at the Tsongas Center.
