STONY BROOK, N.Y. -- The UMass Lowell Volleyball team fell in straight sets at Stony Brook on Sunday in America East play at Pritchard Gymnasium. The set scores were 20-25, 11-25 and 9-25.
UMass Lowell drops its record to 3-20 overall and 1-8 in AE play, while the Seawolves improve their record to 16-8 overall (9-0 AE).
"We showed a lot of fight in the first set, but did not serve aggressively or put the ball away offensively in sets two and three," said UMass Lowell Head Coach
Resa Provanzano. "We plan on getting a little healthier this week and showing a lot of heart for our seniors this coming weekend, they certainly deserve it."
Junior outside hitter
Katherine Claybaugh (Alamo, Calif.) recorded a team-high seven kills in the losing effort, while freshman
Kate Bilyeu (Omaha, Neb.) chipped in with five kills. Senior
Lade Adeniyi (Springfield, Ill.) and sophomore
Grace Burkett (Lakeside, Calif.) each added four kills.
Junior setter
McKenna Bova (Corona, Calif.) totaled 24 assists and seven digs running the UMass Lowell offense. Junior outside hitter
Madi Bell (Port St. Lucie, Fla.) registered seven digs on defense, three kills and a team-best .222 hitting percentage. Senior libero
Lindsey Visvardis (Homer Glen, Ill.) posted six digs in the road loss.
UMass Lowell totaled a team-best 13 kills in the opening set against Stony Brook.
Maria Poole and Liz Pulver each amassed a match-high nine kills in the victory for the Seawolves, while Kiani Kerstetter amassed a match-high 11 digs.
The River Hawks return to action at home on Friday, November 2nd against UMBC in America East play. Match time from Costello Athletic Center is 7 p.m.
