WALTHAM, Mass. – Senior forward
Nick Master (Broomall, Pa.) scored two goals and three points to lead the UMass Lowell Hockey team to a 4-2 victory at Bentley on Saturday night in non-league play at Bentley Arena.
The River Hawks improve to 3-3 overall with the win, while the Falcons drop to 1-3-1 with the loss.
"I liked the effort tonight, it's the type of bounce back effort you're looking after yesterday's loss," said Head Coach
Norm Bazin. "Despite killing a five-minute power play, we generated over 30 shots on the road, so that was certainly a positive for us."
Freshman forward
Lucas Condotta (Georgetown, Ont.) notched his first career goal to seal the win for the River Hawks with 2:09 to play in the game via the power play to make it a 4-2 game for UMass Lowell.
Connor Brassard scored on the power play with 13:53 to play to cut the River Hawks lead to 3-2 in the third period with a wrister from the top of the right circle.
Master poked home a rebound to give the River Hawks a 2-1 lead on a 4x4 goal with 8:18 to go in the second frame. He scored again a little over three minutes later for his second goal of the night on the power play to give UMass Lowell a 3-1 lead. It was Master's second career multi-goal game with the other coming his freshman year at AIC on February 16, 2016.
Bentley evened the game at 1-1 with 5:41 to go in the first period on Tanner Jago's second tally of the season.
Senior
Ryan Dmowski (East Lyme, Conn.) got the River Hawks on the board first in the game just 5:56 into the first frame with a wrist shot from the left faceoff circle that beat Bentley's Aidan Pelino high over his left shoulder.
Senior goalie
Christoffer Hernberg (Espoo, Finland) made 13 saves in his second start of the season, while his counterpart Pelino stopped 27 shots in the loss for the Falcons, which included 15 stops in the second stanza alone.
Sophomore defenseman
Anthony Baxter (Oakville, Ont.) notched two assists in the contest for the River Hawks.
The River Hawks outshot Bentley, 31-15 for the game, including a 17-2 shot advantage in the second period. UMass Lowell went 2-for-5 on the power play in the road victory.
UMass Lowell returns to action for a two-game series next weekend at Maine in Hockey East action, beginning on Friday, November 2nd at Alfond Arena (7pm).
