DURHAM, N.H. – The UMass Lowell men's soccer team fell 2-0 to New Hampshire in the final road contest of the regular season on Friday night.
The Wildcats (9-3-2, 3-2-1) broke onto the scoreboard with a Linus Fallberg tally in the 28th minute, following a pair of Patrick Gujic (Bjelovar, Croatia) point blank saves. The deficit doubled in the 37th minute, after a loose ball was tipped in.
"I thought we only played 45 minutes tonight, but played a lot better in the second half," commented Head Coach
Christian Figueroa. "We allowed a strong team at home to take control of the first half, and although we had opportunities we couldn't get control back and put pressure on ourselves."
Gujic made five stops in the opening 45 minutes for the River Hawks (8-5-2, 3-3-0), and added three more in the second half.
Jakov Basic (Zagreb, Croatia) and
Abdi Shariff-Hassan (Lewiston, Maine) recorded shots on target for UMass Lowell in the second half, but could not cut into the deficit.
The River Hawks wrap up the regular season with a Senior Night clash against Hartford on Halloween at 7 p.m.
