Baltimore, Md. – In a game that featured four second-half goals by the River Hawks, the UMass Lowell women's soccer team (5-7-4, 3-2-1 AE) bulldozed its way to a 5-2 win against UMBC (1-14, 0-6 AE) on Sunday afternoon at Retriever Soccer Park.
 
Rachel Morrier (Plaistow, N.H.) notched a career-high four goals en route to the River Hawks' third conference victory.
 
"I was very impressed with the response from the team in the second half," said interim head coach Mira Novak. "For us, as coaching staff, it was a pleasure to see their drive and how they turned things around."
 
In her earliest tally in a game this season, Morrier scored an unassisted goal in the fourth minute from 30 yards out with a high, arching shot above the head of UMBC's goalkeeper.
 
The Retrievers evened things up in the 21^st minute with a zinger by Christina Corbi into the right corner of the net. Corbi scored her second goal of the game in the 34^th minute, sending the ball past the hands of Julia Schneider (Bridgewater, Mass.) from the left side and putting UMBC up 2-1.
 
The second half was a new ball game for the River Hawks, as Rachel and Veronica Morrier took complete control. Rachel scored in the 49^th minute after a long pass by Kristina Bartsch (Pulheim, Germany) drew out the UMBC goalkeeper and opened up the net for Rachel to tap it in. Veronica added one of her own just 30 seconds later, taking a through ball and scoring her second goal of the season.
 
Rachel wasn't done, however, and just a minute later, she tallied her first career hat trick. Bartsch assisted on two of Rachel's second-half goals, her first assists of the season.
 
"Kristina Bartsch was the driving force behind the midfield," Novak added. "She had a great game, so I'm hoping to see more of that, as well."
 
The River Hawks continued their scoring run in the second half with a final tally in the 78^th minute. Bartsch sent a no-look pass to Jaymee Luke (Las Vegas, Nev.), who faked a shot and passed to Rachel Morrier, who scored her fourth goal of the game from just outside the box. Before Sunday's game, only four players in the nation had tallied four-goal games this season.
 
This marked the fourth time this season that the River Hawks have scored in the first 20 minutes of the game, all of which have resulted in wins. UMass Lowell remains undefeated when scoring before its opponent.
 
Nine players attempted shots for UMass Lowell in its highest scoring game since 2010.
