VESTAL, N.Y. – The UMass Lowell baseball team (22-22, 10-10) dropped the series finale, 5-2, to the Binghamton Bearcats (26-9, 12-2) on Sunday afternoon.

Both teams scored a pair of runs in the third, with the River Hawks striking first in the top of the frame as
Nick Barry (Grafton, Mass.) led the rally with a leadoff single.
Ben Prada (Laurel, Md.) laid down a sacrifice bunt and both runners moved into scoring position on a throwing error by the pitcher.

Oscar Marchena (Miami, Fla.) and
John Polichetti (Atkinson, N.H.) produced the runs as the sophomore dropped in a single down the right field line, followed by Polichetti's sacrifice fly to make it 2-0.

Binghamton's two runs in the bottom of the third came on a two-out double by Brendan Skidmore, with the tying run coming across after an error on the play.

The Bearcats' Justin Drpich drove in the eventual game-winning run on a double down the left field line, as the hosts scored three in the eighth to pick up the win.

The contest's starters combined for 18 strikeouts as
Nick Kuzia (Seymour, Conn.) struck out eight and Justin Wloczewski struck out 10 for Binghamton. Behind the plate, Barry threw out two Bearcats attempting to steal second base.

UMass Lowell is back in action for one final non-conference game at Yale on May 10.
