LOWELL, Mass. – After capping off a 4-1 week with its third America East series win a row, the UMass Lowell baseball team looks to keep the momentum going with a five-game week, including a non-conference doubleheader at LeLacheur Park on Tuesday. 

River Hawk Rewind
The River Hawks knocked off Dartmouth and Massachusetts in mid-week action, outscoring the two non-conference teams 15-5 before clinching their third straight conference series win with a doubleheader sweep against Stony Brook on April 14. Russ Olive (Chelmsford, Mass.) picked up five RBI in the sweep, while Colby Maiola (North Reading, Mass.) and Chris Sharpe (Burlington, Mass.) combined for 11 hits, eight RBI, and 12 runs scored, with Sharpe crossing the plate seven times. Maiola, Cam Climo (Billerica, Mass.) and Michael Young (Chester, N.J.) all homered throughout the week. The UMass Lowell pitching staff was led by Collin Duffley's (Manchester, N.H.) two-hit shutout on Friday, while Andrew Ryan (Rochester, Mass.) struck out nine in his victory and Connor Metelski (Wall Township, N.J.) earned his first career win at Massachusetts,

Leading the Flock
Sharpe paces the UMass Lowell offense with a .328 average, 41 hits, 34 runs, six long balls and 82 total bases, while the sophomore's 15 doubles lead the conference and are the sixth-most in all of Division I. Sharpe has tripled four times and posts a .656 slugging percentage with 20 RBI, while Maiola leads the team with 29 RBI. The trio of Austin Young (Millbury, Mass.), Steve Passatempo (Medford, Mass.) and Maiola have combined for 101 hits, 62 RBI, 59 runs and eight home runs, as well.  On the hill, Collin Duffley (Manchester, N.H.) leads the team with his five wins two complete games, 59 strikeouts and his 2.03 ERA, while Nick Rand (Hyde Park, N.Y.) has a team-high five saves. As a team, the River Hawks are batting .263 and the staff is posting a 3.71 ERA.

Scouting Brown
The Bears (10-17, 4-8 Ivy) snapped a six-game losing streak with a 9-8 win at Dartmouth on April 16. The lineup is led by Sam Grigo's .342 batting average and Josh Huntley's 22 RBI. Two players have connected on three home runs to pace the offense. On the mound, Christian Taugner is 3-3 with a 2.74 ERA to lead the staff, while Reid Anderson has struck out 35 batters. Brown is batting .261 as a team, and has a combined 4.35 ERA.

Scouting UMBC
The Retrievers (11-16, 5-4 AE) took two out of three against the Hartford Hawks over the weekend to move above .500 in conference play. Collin Stack has a .354 average, while Hunter Dolshun leads the team with 20 RBI. Dolshun and Jamie Switalksi have combined for eight of UMBC's 14 long balls, each hitting four. The staff is led by Matt Chapin's 5.23 ERA and Jacob Christian's 37 strikeouts, while Joe Vanderplas and Mitchell Wilson have picked up three wins a peice. The Retrievers are batting .288 with a 6.88 team ERA.

Series History
UMass Lowell is 2-4 all-time against Brown, following 2016's 9-8 win.  
The River Haws have lost six straight to UMBC, and sit a 5-7 all-time

No April Fools
UMass Lowell is 6-3 since the calendar turned from March, including its second five-game winning streak of the season.

Record-Setting Sunday
The 18 runs against UAlbany was the most UMass Lowell has scored since joining Division I in 2013, surpassing the previous high of 15 against UMBC on April 26, 2014. The River Hawks' 10 runs in the ninth inning marked the most runs the team has scored in an inning since 2013, passing the seven runs in 15-1 game at UMBC.

Mai, oh Mai
Colby Maiola leads the team with nine multi-RBI games, and is second with nine-multi hit games as well. The left fielder and has reached base in three straight games and has a season-long seven-game hitting streak. The junior college transfer has connected on the team's only grand slam this season and is third on the team with 13 extra-base hits.

Put Me In Coach!
In the latest NEIBA Division I Coaches Poll, the River Hawks are in the ranked fifth, trailing Dartmouth, UConn, CCSU and Rhode Island.

Power Surge
Through 31 games, this year's offense has connected on 27 home runs and have delivered multiple home runs in seven games, including a DI program-high four on February 25 against FDU, to lead the conference in total homers. Last season, the River Hawks hit 23 homers with four multi-home run games. 

Bullpen Magic
In the River Hawks' five-game winning steak, the bullpen allowed seven runs, five earned, in 19.1 innings with pitchers combining for 20 strikeouts. 

Sharpest Bat in the Lineup
With his hot start to 2017, Chris Sharpe has recorded 11 multi-hit games and four multi-RBI games, while leading the team in nine offensive categories.

Hangin' 11
The 11 runs against UConn marked the second consecutive season-opening win that the River Hawks crossed the plate 11 times. Last season, UMass Lowell defeated Nicholls State, 11-2, to begin 2016 1-0. It also marks the third time in DI that the River Hawks scored more than 10 runs in their first win of the season (14, vs. Temple, 2014).

Duffley picked up his first career America East Pitcher of the Week award (4.4) ... Polichetti was named America East Rookie of the Week for the second straight week (3.21) ... Sharpe and Polichetti were named the America East Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively (3.14) ... Austin Young became the fifth River Hawk to be named AE Rookie of the Week (2.28) ... Olive earned River Hawk of the Week and America East Player of the Week accolades (2.21).
