CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The UMass Lowell women's lacrosse team (6-6, 0-3 AE) faltered 17-6 at Harvard (7-5, 3-1) on Tuesday night, in a midweek nonconference clash.
Junior goalkeeper
Courtney Barrett (South Burlington, Vt.) racked up 13 saves in the outing, while senior
Kristy Robertson (Kingston, N.H.) cause the squad's lone turnover on the night.
Sophomore
Kristina Keith (East Kingston, N.H.) and junior
Austin Trasatti (Doylestown, Pa.) paced all River Hawks with two points apiece. Keith tacked on two goals, while Trasatti added a goal and dished out an assist.
Harvard took an early 3-0 lead after three different Crimson players were able to find the back of the net, before junior
Taylor Sokol (Hopkinton, Mass.) got the River Hawks on the board with a tally at 23:50. After a cut towards the net left Sokol open in the middle of the arc, sophomore
Jane Dudley (Duxbury, Mass.) connected with Sokol, who picked up her 16th score of the year, making it a 3-1 contest.
The Crimson's offense followed with three goals in as many minutes, as Harvard was able to increase its lead to 6-1. Keith later broke up scoring run at 16:18, with a free position goal following a Crimson foul.
Later in the first half, Keith picked up her her second marker of the contest to notch her fifth free position goal off the year and cut the deficit to 8-3.
Harvard was able to finish the first half strong, as the team carried a 12-3 advantage into halftime, behind a four-goal scoring run in the final six minutes.
UMass Lowell matched their first frame total with three goals in the second, thanks to three different River Hawk players. Sophomore
Paige MacEachern (Lynnfield, Mass.) and junior
Kaylan DiModugno (Deer Park, N.Y.) netted back-to-back goals at 15:22 and 13:12, respectively, before Trasatti connected with freshman
Hana Caster (North Attleboro, Mass.) to top out UMass Lowell's scoring at six. With the score, Trasatti became the fourth River Hawk to eclipse the 20-point mark in 2017.
The Crimson put up an additional five goals in the final half, as the home team owned a 17-6 edge at the final buzzer.
The River Hawks head back to conference play, as the team treks to Binghamton on Saturday, April 15 for a 12 p.m. matinee.
