VESTAL, N.Y. – The UMass Lowell women's lacrosse team (6-7, 0-4 AE) was thwarted, 12-6, at Binghamton (6-9, 2-2 AE) in America East action on Saturday afternoon.
 
Juniors 
Taylor Sokol (Hopkinton, Mass.) and 
Kaylan DiModugno (Deer Park, N.Y.) paced all River Hawks with two point on two goals apeice.
Defensively, junior goalkeeper 
Courtney Barrett (South Burlington, Vt.) made nine saves in the outing, while picking up a team-best four ground balls. Four River Hawks caused a team-high two turnovers, including freshman 
Bri Spinnato (Baltimore, Md.) who marked a career best.
 
A quick goal provided UMass Lowell with a lead they would hold deep into the first half. Junior 
Austin Trasatti (Doylestown, Pa.) gave her squad the 1-0 edge after blasting one home from eight meters out. The squad later grasp their biggest advantage of the tilt, 3-1, thanks to tallies by Sokol and sophomore 
Rebecca Idson (East Atlantic Beach, N.Y.) at 15:52 and 10:03, respectively.
 
The River Hawks first saw their lead dissolve with just 2:43 remaining, after Binghamton was able to knot the score, 3-3. The Bearcats found the back of the net once again nearly a minute later to claim their first advantage of the contest, 4-3.
Binghamton rounded out the first half on a 4-0 run, picking up two more goals in the final minute of the frame to own a 6-3 lead at halftime.
 
The Bearcats continued to apply pressue coming out of halftime, as the home team jumped out to a 9-3 edge behind a three-goal run in the opening 10 minutes.
 
The River Hawks would later threaten with a pair of goals from DiModugno and Sokol to cut the deficit to 9-5 with 16:22 left on the clock. DiModugno picked up her first score of the tilt when she capitalized on a Bearcats' foul, before Sokol notched her second to slash their opponents cushion to four.
 
The home team didn't let up, as a Bearcat offense recorded three final goals and a 12-5 lead with under 10 minutes remaining.
 
DiModugno rounded out the scoring for both teams with her career-best 17th goal on the season. A Binghamton defense would keep the River Hawks off the board in the final minutes, as the Bearcats secured a 12-6 victory.
 
UMass Lowell is back in action in on Wednesday, April 14 in a non-conference match up at Ivy league foe Brown (7 p.m.).
