LOWELL, Mass. – Coming off its second consecutive America East series win, the UMass Lowell baseball team readies for a five-game week including two mid-week games on the road, before hosting Stony Brook over the holiday weekend.Â
River Hawk Rewind
The River Hawks took two out of three from UAlbany at LeLacheur, including setting the program's DI single game scoring mark with an 18-0 win in Sunday's finale. Behind eight shutout innings from
Andrew Ryan (Rochester, Mass.), UMass Lowell took game one, 4-0, before splitting the doubleheader with a 4-2 loss in game two. In the finale, the River Hawks jumped out to a 3-0 lead after two and lead 8-0 heading into the ninth inning before exploding for 10 runs in the final frame, capped by
Colby Maiola's (North Reading, Mass.) three-run homer.
Russ Olive (Chelmsford, Mass.) also went deep in the contest, and Maiola ended the weekend with five RBI and
Cam Climo (Billerica, Mass.) drove in four.
Leading the Flock
Chris Sharpe (Burlington, Mass.) paces the UMass Lowell offense with a .337 average, 35 hits, 27 runs, six long balls and 71 total bases. The sophomore has also doubled 12 times and has three triples with a .683 slugging percentage and 17 RBI, while Maiola leads the team with 24 RBI. The trio of

Scouting Dartmouth
The Big Green (15-10, 5-3 Ivy) are 5-5 in its last 10 contests following a doubleheader split against Cornell on April 9. Matt Feinstein sits atop the Dartmouth lineup with a .356 average and 37 hits, while his 17 RBI rank third on the team. Kyle Holbrook leads the team with 20 RBI and is one of a trio of players who have a hit three home runs. On the mound, Chris Burkholder has a 1.56 ERA, while Michael Danielak paces the staff with five wins and 43 strikeouts. The Big Green has a .295 batting average and a 3.95 ERA.
Scouting Massachusetts
The Minutemen (7-16, 2-4 A-10) are on an eight-game losing streak and will travel down to CCSU on Tuesday before hosting the River Hawks on Wednesday, and are winless at home this season. Nolan Kessinger has a .351 batting average and 27 hits to sit atop the lineup, while Cooper Mrowka has 12 RBI. Jon Availone has connected on three on his team's eight long balls. The staff is led by Brooks Knapek's 2.89 ERA and 33 strikeouts, while he is one of two players with a pair of wins. Massachusetts is batting .238 and has a team ERA of 6.35.
Scouting Stony Brook
The Seawolves (15-14, 4-2) lead the America East standings and in the midst of a seven-game winning streak and haven't lost since April 1, and will travel to Marist on Tuesday before making the trek to Lowell. Brandon Janofsky leads a trio of players batting above .300 with a .359 average, while three players have connected on three homers. Casey Baker has drive in 27 runs and has a team-high 36 hits. On the mound, Greg Marino has a 3.07 ERA, while Teddy Rodliff and Aaron Pinto have three wins apiece. Sam Turcotte has struck out 34 batters in 31 innings to pace to staff. Stony Brook is batting .279 with a 5.46 ERA.

UMass Lowell is 8-4 all-time against the Big Green and won last season's meeting 11-6.Â

Record-Setting Sunday
The 18 runs against UAlbany was the most UMass Lowell has scored since joining Division I in 2013, surpassing the previous high of 15 against UMBC on April 26, 2014. The River Hawks' 10 runs in the ninth inning marked the most runs the team has scored in an inning since 2013, passing the seven runs in 15-1 game at UMBC.
Mai, oh Mai
Colby Maiola leads the team with eight multi-RBI games with two in his last three games. He has recorded at least two hits in eight games, and has reached base in six straight games. The junior college transfer has connected on the team's only grand slam this season and is second on the team with nine extra-base hits.

In the latest NEIBA Division I Coaches Poll, the River Hawks are in the ranked fifth, trailing Dartmouth, UConn, CCSU and Rhode Island.

Hangin' 11
The 11 runs against UConn marked the second consecutive season-opening win that the River Hawks crossed the plate 11 times. Last season, UMass Lowell defeated Nicholls State, 11-2, to begin 2016 1-0. It also marks the third time in DI that the River Hawks scored more than 10 runs in their first win of the season (14, vs. Temple, 2014).
