BOSTON, Mass. – The UMass Lowell baseball team earned a total of four America East All-Conference awards, as announced by the league office on Tuesday afternoon.
Junior Alfred Mucciarone (Franklin, Mass.) earned spots on both the America East All-Conference Second Team and the All-Academic Team, while freshman Cal Chance (Wolcott, Conn.) secured All-Rookie Team honors and graduate student Frankie DeMaro (Newburgh, N.Y.) was named to the All-Academic Team.
"Credit to our guys who earned all conference recognition," said Head Coach Nick Barese. "We have a really selfless group, and I know team accomplishments mean the most to them, but it's always special to earn personal achievements as well."
Following an impressive season on the mound for the River Hawks, Mucciarone emerged as the team's ace and delivered several standout outings throughout the year. The junior right-hander finished the 2026 regular season with a 4.52 earned run average and 1.44 WHIP across 69.2 innings in 13 starts, recording a 3-5 mark while striking out 43 batters. The Franklin native highlighted his season with two complete-game performances against Maine, including a shutout on May 8, 2026, in which he tossed all nine innings while allowing just six hits and no earned runs with two walks and two strikeouts against the Black Bears. Mucciarone's efforts earned him America East Pitcher of the Week honors twice during the season. He also ranked among the conference leaders, placing ninth in earned run average (4.52), third in innings pitched (69.2), and tied for ninth in victories (3). Away from the field, the business administration major has also excelled academically, maintaining a 3.64 GPA.
Chance put together a breakout campaign for UMass Lowell, earning America East Rookie of the Week honors twice during the 2026 season. The Wolcott native quickly became a key contributor for the River Hawks, finishing among the team's top five in seven statistical categories. Across 42 starts, Chance posted a .293 batting average and a .717 on-base plus slugging percentage, totaling 54 hits, including 10 doubles and one triple, while adding 33 runs scored and 30 RBI. He also led the team with 12 stolen bases, ranking ninth in the America East. Chance matched the UMass Lowell Division I single-game hits record on two occasions during the season, collecting five-hit performances at Pepperdine on March 12 and against Stonehill on April 14.
DeMaro joined the River Hawks ahead of the 2026 season, bringing veteran experience and stability to the bullpen. The Newburgh native appeared in 18 games, including three starts, posting a 6.56 ERA across 35.2 innings while recording one win, one save, and 26 strikeouts. Off the field, DeMaro has excelled academically as well, embodying the true definition of a student-athlete with a 3.91 GPA in engineering management at UMass Lowell after previously earning a 3.68 GPA as a mechanical engineering undergraduate at SNHU.
