LOWELL, Mass. – Sophomore attack
Rebecca Idson (East Atlantic Beach, N.Y.) notched three goals and caused a career-high four turnovers as the UMass Lowell women's lacrosse team (5-2) notched its fifth straight win with a 12-8 victory against LIU Brooklyn (2-6), on Saturday afternoon, to mark the program's longest win streak.

Junior attackers
Taylor Sokol (Hopkington, Mass.), and
Austin Trasatti (Doylestown, Pa.), additionally netted three goals a piece, while sophomore attack
Jane Dudley (Duxbury,Mass.) dished out a career-best three helpers in the contest.

Between the pipes, junior
Courtney Barrett (South Burlington, Vt.) denied six shots in the victory, while her counterpart picked up nine saves in the effort.

"I was really excited that we could make the adjustments from the first half into the second half," said Head Coach
Carissa Medeiros. "The first half was sloppier than we wanted, but at halftime we talked about showing up and executing. We challenged them with that and fighting for each other and they came right out of the half and did that. We turned opportunities into goals right away and were able to build a cushion."

The two teams traded goals early to knot the score 1-1, just six minutes in. LIU Brooklyn's Jenn Peter's broke open the scoring with an unassisted tally at 23:49, before Idson followed with the equalizer 11 second later. Peter's went on to record four of the Blackbirds five goals in the first half, all of which were unassisted.

After two minutes of scoreless action, Peter's recorded back-to-back tallies to give the visitors a two-goal cushion, 3-1, at 21:31. The River Hawks were able to get one back, three minutes later, thanks to Idson who picked up her second score of the game.

Despite finding themselves down 4-2, UMass Lowell stormed back to even the score 4-4, thanks to Trasatti and junior attack
Kaylan DiModugno (Deer Park, N.Y.). Trasatt's unassisted marker brought the River Hawks within one, before Dudley connected with DiModugno to net the equalizer.

With 27 second remaining, LIU Brooklyn was able to sneak one by Barrett, as the squad carried a narrow 5-4 edge into the second half.

UMass Lowell led the charge entering the second half, lacing together six goals in 10 minutes to jump out to a 9-5 advantage. Sophomore midfielder
Kendyl Finelli (Southborough, Mass.) led the charge with a tally at 1:00 in the second, to match the Blackbirds 5-5, before Sokol, Trasatti and DiModugno added to the six-goal run.

LIU Brooklyn was able to snap the River Hawk's second half run with an unassisted goal at 20:04, making it a three goal game, 9-6.

Sokol and the River Hawks didn't settle as the junior found the back of the net twice during a five-minute span. Idson also added to the scoring fun, notching her third goal of the game at 13:29. Dudley and sophomore attack
Paige MacEachern (Lynnfield, Mass.) each picked up an assist in the action, helping to provide the home team with a 12-6 cushion.

The Blackbirds eventually rounded out the scoring with a pair of goals in the final minutes, but eventually seeing their effort fall short as UMass Lowell walked away with the 12-8 victory.

Erin Hatch (Billerica, Mass.) and DiModugno and sophomore defenseman
Megan Albertsen (Rockville Centre, N.Y.). DiModugno and Albersten both notched career highs with their three wins.

The River Hawks will wrap up their three game home stand with a battle against Bryant on Wednesday, March at Wicked Blue Turf. Game time is set for 3:00 p.m.
