LOWELL, Mass. – Despite three goals from
Isaac Bot (Calgary, Alberta), the UMass Lowell (2-6) men's lacrosse team dropped its America East opener, 15-8, to the visiting Binghamton Bearcats (5-1).

Austin Lane (Aurora, Ontario) gave the River Hawks a 1-0 lead less than a minute into the contest, but the Bearcats scored the next five goals and took a 5-1 advantage into the second quarter.

Tallies by
Sam Klingsporn (Aloha, Ore.) and Bot brought UMass Lowell within 6-3 in the second, but a Binghamton strike with just over a minute left in the quarter to take a 7-3 lead into the break.

The River Hawks got back within three, 7-4, just 73 seconds into the third with
Ryan Morrison's (Uxbridge, Ontario) one-timer.

Following two Bearcat goals,
Keenan Koswin (Winnipeg, Manitoba) and Bot brought the hosts back within with 2:07 left in the third. Binghamton answered with 10 seconds left in the period to take a 10-6 buffer into the final quarter.

Sean Tyrell (Calgary, Alberta) notched his first goal of the contest just 15 seconds into the fourth to make the score 10-7.

Binghamton's Tom Moore and Thomas McAndrew paced the visitors with five and four goals, respectively.

UMass Lowell is back at Cushing Field for a tilt against Providence under the lights on March 21 at 7 p.m.
