SCOUTING THE RIVER HAWKS: UMass Lowell enters Wednesday's game at Massachusetts with a 2-4 overall record, after last Saturday's 13-6 road victory at Manhattan. The team owns a 1-3 home record this year and a 1-1 record on the road. The River Hawks will play their America East opener on Saturday afternoon against Binghamton at Cushing Field Complex.Â
The River Hawks scored 10+ goal for the second time this season in the contest vs. the Jaspers. UMass Lowell scored the first five goal in the game and outscored Manhattan, 4-1, in the second half. Freshman
Isaac Bot (Calgary, Alta.) notched a team-high and career-high four goals in the game. The River Hawks outshot Manhattan, 31-15 for the game, which included a 12-6 advantage in the second half.
UMass Lowell as a team leads America East with 36.83 groundballs per game and eight caused turnovers per game. UMass Lowell's 37.83 shots per game ranks second among America East teams.Â
SCOUTING THE MINUTEMEN: Massachusetts owns a 1-4 overall mark coming into Wednesday's mid-week tilt. The Minutemen are coming off a 11-9 win against victory at No. 15 Yale last Tuesday. Dan Muller leads the team with nine points (6g,3a) and Tyler Bogart ranks first on UMass roster with eight goals.Â
SCOUTING THE BEARCATS: Binghamton has posted a 4-1 record overall this season and are coming off a 13-9 against Delaware this past Saturday in Newark. The team owns a 2-0 away record to date and have won their last three games headed into Saturday's America East opener. Tom Moore leads the Bearcats' offense with 26 points and 16 goals in five games so far this season.Â
TYRRELL AMONG AMERICA EAST LEADERS: Tyrrell leads the River Hawks in scoring with 22 points (9g,13a) and has point three or more points in five of six contests so far this season. His 22 points is fifth best in the league and his 13 assists ranks second among conference players. Tyrrell ranks second among America East players with 2.17 assists per game and he ranks sixth with 3.67 points per game.Â
LARDIERI NAMED AMERICA EAST DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK:Â Sophomore goaltender
Grant Lardieri (Ada, Mich.)Â named America East Defensive Player of the Week for his performance against Manhattan on March 11. This honor marks Lardieri's first player of the week recognition from the conference of the season. The sophomore recorded nine saves on fifteen shots faced in the team's 13-6 victory at Manhattan last weekend. Lardieri shut the Japers down in the second half, allowing just one goal in the final two quarters to finish the contest with a .600 save percentage. Additionally, he picked up three ground balls in the contest. So far this season, Lardieri is sporting a 2-4 record, a .562 save percentage and a 10.61 GAA. His 12.17 saves per game rank second in the conference, while his save percentage sits third among America East goaltenders.
