UMass Lowell went 1-2 at the USA Baseball-Irish Classic in Cary, N.C., falling to Dayton and No. 6 N.C. State and knocking off Notre Dame, 8-0.
Collin Duffley (Manchester, N.H.) struck out a career-high eight in seven innings to beat the Irish, while
Steve Passatempo (Medford, Mass.) hit his first home run of the season and drove in four. Both

Series History
This marks the first meeting between Manhattan and UMass Lowell in baseball, while the Blue Hens and River Hawks split their two contests last year.Â
Sharpest Bat in the Lineup
With his hot start to 2017,
Chris Sharpe is tied for 11th nationally with five home runs, and ranks 18th with a .854 slugging percentage. The outfielder has recorded five multi-hit games and just had his seven-game hitting streak snapped.
Power Surge
Through 10Â games, this year's offense has connected on 14Â home runs and have delivered multiple home runs in four games, including a DI program-high four on February 25 against FDU. Last season, the River Hawks hit 23 homers with four multi-home run games.Â
We're Going Streaking!
Passatempo has the longest streaks going for the River Hawks in the first 10 games of the season. He has reached base safely in all 10 games and has a five-game hitting streak. Both
Austin Young and
Chris Sharpe have registered seven-game hitting streaks.
Hangin' 11
The 11 runs against UConn marked the second consecutive season-opening win that the River Hawks crossed the plate 11 times. Last season, UMass Lowell defeated Nicholls State, 11-2, to begin 2016 1-0. It also marks the third time in DI that the River Hawks scored more than 10 runs in their first win of the season (14, vs. Temple, 2014).
