BOSTON, Mass. – Junior attacker Austin Trasatti (Doylestown, Pa.) put together a career-high three points (2g,1a), but it wasn't enough as the UMass Lowell women's lacrosse team (0-2) was nipped by Boston University (1-1), 12-7, Saturday afternoon.
 
Offensively, the River Hawks were aided by sophomore attacker Jane Dudley (Duxbury, Mass.), who recorded her second consecutive hat trick, and Trasatti's career-high two goals and one assist. The duo accounted for six of the teams eight points in the contest, playing a hand in every UMass Lowell goal except two.
 
"Overall, we are pleased with both the effort and energy today," said Head Coach Carissa Medeiros. "We struggled with executing fundamentals and that directly impacted the game, particularly in the second half. We made a number of mental errors that Boston University capitalized on and we struggled to climb out of a hole that we dug for ourselves. Looking forward to getting down to basics this week and work on limiting unforced errors and improving our awareness."

Despite two quick tallies by the Terriers in the opening minutes, the River Hawks would string together three consecutive goals for a 3-2 lead at 14:47. Dudley gave the squad their first two scores of the game, tying the contest at 2-2, before junior midfielder Kaylan DiModugno (Deer Park, N.Y.) notched her first tally of the season to grab the early lead.
 
Boston University would later tie the game at 3-3, but with three goals in the final minutes of play, the River Hawks would carry a 6-5 edge at the half. Junior goalkeeper Courtney Barrett (South Burlington, Vt.) denied eight shots as the River Hawks carried their first lead of the season after 20 minutes of play.
 
The home team began the second frame on a 4-0 run, to jump out to an 8-6 lead with 24:13 remaining. Dudley's third goal of the contest cut the deficit to one, 8-7, but the home team would later add on to a lead they would fail to relinquish.
 
The Terriers six-goal performance in the final half was enough to complete the comeback for Boston University.
 
Junior defenseman Sheila Nolan (Massapequa, N.Y.) picked up a team-high two caused turnovers, while sophomore midfielder Kristina Keith (East Kingston, N.H.) scooped up team highs in ground balls (3) and draw controls (4) in the bout. Barrett finished the day with a season-high 15 saves.
 
UMass Lowell in back in action on Saturday, March 4 when the team entertains Iona in a 1 p.m. matinee.
