JERSEY CITY, N.J. – The UMass Lowell women's basketball team erased an eight-point deficit in the fourth quarter and snapped its 23-game road losing streak with a 66-60 comeback win at Saint Peter's on Thursday night.
 
Kayla Gibbs (Teaneck, N.J.) recorded her sixth straight double-double with 17 points and 14 rebounds, as she now sits 23 points away from the 1,000-point plateau. 
Brianna Rudolph (Lynn, Mass.) chipped in 14, and 
Paula Lopez (Leon, Spain) added 10, including an and-one to seal the victory.
 
Trailing 57-49 with 9:16 left in regulation, the River Hawks (3-6) chipped away until a 
Megan Hendrick (Alexandria, Va.) jumper put them in front, 61-60, with one tick under three minutes showing on the clock.
 
With the Peacocks (3-5) within three in the final seconds, Lopez intercepted a pass and converted the three-point play for the 66-60 final.
 
After a Gibbs basket off an offensive rebound to knot up the game at 2-2, the Peacocks went on an 11-0 run to hold a 13-2 advantage in the first quarter. Gibbs scored the first six UMass Lowell points, and the River Hawks got within 16-10 with 2:13 left in the quarter.
 
For the second consecutive game, the visitors connected on a buzzer beater, as 
Saoirse Power-Cassidy (Dublin, Ireland) connected on a deep three-pointer to cut the deficit to 23-16 heading into the second.
 
UMass Lowell scored seven of the first nine points in the second period to get within 25-23 with 6:22 left in the half. The River Hawks used an 8-0 run to take their first lead, 27-25, with 4:48 on the clock behind a Rudolph finish at the rim.
 
Trailing 36-31 at the half, the River Hawks jumped out to an 8-0 run to start the third behind threes from 
Paula Lopez (Leon, Spain), Rudolph and a bucket from Gibbs to take a 39-36 lead.
 
Louro connected on three to put the River Hawks up 44-41, but Saint Peter's was able to close out the third on a 12-5 run, and opened the fourth with the first four points to hold a 57-49 lead.
 
The Peacocks' Zoe Pero registered a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds, and teammate Dajiah Martin added 10.
