LOWELL, Mass. –
The UMass Lowell women's soccer team (2-1-2) closes out it's three-game home stint on Thursday, September 8 as the squad entertains Central Connecticut State for Hometown Heroes night, kickoff is slated to being at 7 p.m.

Looking at UMass Lowell
The River Hawks improved to 2-1-2 overall this season after tacking on a pair of wins last week. UMass Lowell posted its first win of 2016 with a 1-0 victory against Bryant on Sept. 1 in the team's home opener. The squad continued to roll with an exciting, 1-0, double overtime win against Wagner just three days later on Sept. 4. Through five games, junior Rachel Morrier (Plaistow, N.H.) paces the team with five points and two goals, including one assist. Seniors Taylor Chianese (Chepachet, R.I.) and Carolyn Ragon (Melrose, Mass.) along with sophomore Katelyn Vieira (Warwick, R.I.) have each added a goal apiece this season, while freshman Maddie Cheney (Bow, N.H.) owns one assist on the year. So far this season, time in the net has been split between junior goalkeeper Julia Schneider (Bridgewater, Mass.) and freshman Lauren Huff (Brandon, Fla.), who own a 1-1-1 and 1-0-1 record, respectively, including one blank sheet each.

Scouting Central Connecticut

The Blue Devils (0-6) enter Thursday's match on a six-game skid, following a pair of road losses last week. Central Connecticut fell at Harvard, 3-0, on Sept. 1 before getting edged, 2-1, at No. 18 UConn on Sept. 4. Junior Lauren Casanovas Diaz and sophomore Charlotte Maurer lead the squad with one goal each, while Emily Hogan and Kristine Kelly add the teams only assists on the year.

Series History
Thursday's contest will mark the second meeting between the River Hawks and the Blue Devils, as UMass Lowell trails 0-1-0 in the all-time series after Central Connecticut sealed a 4-0 victory in 2015.

Freshman First-Timers
Freshman forward Maddie Cheney (Bow, N.H.) added her first point as a River Hawk with an assist against Stetson on August 26. Freshman goalkeeper Lauren Huff (Brandon, Fla.) picked up her first career-win and shutout with a 1-0 victory against Bryant on Sept. 1 after tallying six saves in the outing.
