The UMass Lowell field hockey welcomes No. 20 Maine to Wicked Blue Field for the squad's America East opener on Friday, September 30 before squaring off against Sacred Heart at Yale on Sunday, October 2.

Looking at UMass Lowell
UMass Lowell owns a 3-5 overall record in 2016 after dropping a pair of decisions last week. The River Hawks faced a hard-fought, 4-3 setback against Hofstra on Sept. 23 before being handed a 5-1 decision at Providence. So far in 2016, freshman Anouk Lalande (Brussels, Belgium) paces UMass Lowell with 16 total points and four assists. In addition, Lalande and sophomore Torrie Huk (Milford, Del.) are tied for the team lead with six goals apiece. Juniors Christa Doiron (Worcester, Mas.) and Katie Luchino (Freehold, N.J.) have added nine and seven points, respectively, on the year, as well. Junior goalkeeper Kelsey Federico (Windham, N.H.) has started all seven games she has appeared in, compiling a 2-5 record with 40 saves and a .635 save percentage. Freshman keeper Eva Berkhout (Amersfoort, Utrecht, Netherlands) boasts 21 saves in her four appearances.
 
Scouting Maine
The Black Bears, who are currently 7-3, faced a 3-1 setback at Harvard on Sept. 25 after defeating Northeastern, 4-3, on Sept. 24. Madison Cummings leads the team with 10 goals, and 21 total points. Casey Crowley chips in with 19 points, while Libby Riedl follows closely with 16 points and boasts a team-high eight assists. Emma Cochran has started six of 10 games played en route to a 5-1 record. She has registed 15 saves and a .600 save percentage.
 
Scouting Sacred Heart
The Pioneers are looking for their first win of the 2016 season, sitting at 0-9 so far. Most recently, the team fell, 3-2, in overtime against Temple. Through nine games, Rebecca Hauser has tallied a team-best three goals for six points. Nicole Tolli adds to the offense with one goal and one assist. Goalkeeper Emily Degennaro totals 47 saves with a .566 save percentage. 
 
Series History
UMass Lowell and Maine will be meeting for the 10th time in a series that dates back to 1985. The Black Bears, who lead the all-time series, 7-1-1, defeated the River Hawks twice last season, including a 2-0 decision in Orono on Oct. 18. UMass Lowell owns a slight, 4-3 advantage in the series against Sacred Heart, but the squads have not met since 1999. In their most recent matchup, the River Hawks faced a 2-1 setback against the Pioneers.
 
Around the League
This season, the River Hawks are fourth in the AE East Division standings. As a team, UMass Lowell sits third in the rankings with a 3.13 scoring average and 26 goals scored. The squad is also ranked fourth with 2.25 assists per game and second with 7.62 saves per game. Individually, Anouk Lalande is eighth with six goals and 16 points. Kelsey Federico (5.71) and Eva Berkhout (5.25) sit third and fourth, respectively, on the saves per game list.
 
Consistently Consistent
Torrie Huk has logged points all of the River Hawks' last four contests, including two points in each of the team's last three games.
 
Helping Hands
The River Hawks' offensive output has been a real team effort this year, with 18 assists on 26 goals so far in 2016. That means 69.2 percent of the squad's goals have been assisted this season.
 
Making History
The River Hawks set two Division I program records with their 9-2 win against Saint Louis on Sept. 18. The performance marked the most goals in a game and the largest margin of victory for the team since a 2012 contest against Franklin Pierce (9-1).

Anouk Lalande tallied a season-high four goals and nine points against Saint Louis (9.18) … Torrie Huk set a new personal best with three goals vs. Siena (9.16) … sophomore Allyssa Moser (Mertztown, Pa.) scored her first career goal on a penalty stroke at Holy Cross (9.9) … Eva Berkhout logged a season-best seven saves against Massachusetts (9.4) … Kelsey Federico posted a season-high 16 saves against Miami (9.2) … Anouk Lalande notched her first career goal vs. Miami (9.2) … Katie Luchino tallied her first career assists at Quinnipiac (8.28).
