BOSTON, Mass. – UMass Lowell placed 171 student-athletes on the America East Conference Winter and Spring Honor Roll, as announced by the league office on Friday afternoon.
 
"We are extremely proud of the hard work and effort put in by our student-athletes this past semester," said Associate Athletic Director for Academics and Student-Athlete Services. "The AE Honor Roll and Commissioner's Honor Roll is an outstanding academic accomplishment.  Our hope is to build on this progress as we enter our final year of the Division I transition."
 
The River Hawks' 171 student-athletes named to the honor roll helped UMass Lowell place second among the league, falling only behind Binghamton who recognized 195 student-athletes with the honor. Additionally, UMass Lowell saw 86 representatives on the Commissioner's Honor Roll. Student-athletes must achieve a semester grade-point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher to be eligible for the America East Honor Roll, or at least a 3.5 GPA to be tabbed to the Commissioner's Honor Roll.
 
Based on percentage, lacrosse was the most decorated men's program, leading all lacrosse squads with 74% of its roster earning honor roll recognition.
 
In total, 1,414 (64.83%) of America East student-athletes who competed in winter or spring sports during the 2015-16 academic year earned honor roll distinction.
