LOWELL, Mass. –
Following hosting a pair of mid-week non-conference tilts, the UMass Lowell baseball team heads to Hartford for its final America East series of the 2016 season. 

River Hawk Rewind
UMass Lowell fell to Northeastern, 7-2, on May 10 before snapping its nine-game skid with a 7-3 win against Massachusetts on May 11. In the loss, Russ Olive (Chelmsford, Mass.) hit his first career home run in the seventh inning. The River Hawks jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first against the Minutemen en route to their 7-3 win. Ricky Constant (Nashua, N.H.) struck out a career-high five in his first career collegiate win, and Joe Consolmagno (Worcester, Mass.) hit his 14th career triple to move into sole possesion of first all-time in program history. Ben Prada (Laurel, Md.) led the way at the plate, going 3-for-4 and added three stolen bases.

Leading the Flock
Consolmagno leads the team with a .289 average, 46 hits, six triples and 27 runs, while he sits in second with 22 RBI. In the middle of the order, Steve Passatempo (Medford, Mass.) powers the offense with 10 homers and 39 RBI, to lead the conference in both categories. Chris Sharpe (Burlington, Mass.) leads the team with six doubles and has driven in 15 RBI. Ian Strom (Hopedale, Mass.) has stolen 15 bases, trailed by Prada's 13 and Consolmagno's 10 as the team leads the America East with 65 steals. On the mound, Kendall Pomeroy (Shrewsbury, Mass.) has four wins, while Andrew Ryan (Rochester, Mass.) has three wins to his name and leads the staff with 53 strikeouts. Brendan Long (Naples, Fla.) leads the team and conference with eight saves, boasting a 2.04 ERA. UMass Lowell is batting .230 as a team, and the staff paces the conference with a 3.72 ERA.

Scouting Hartford
The Hawks (30-13, 10-7) dropped their last contest to Sacred Heart, 7-4, but have won five straight conference games to move into second place. David MacKinnon is batting .371 to lead the attack, while Ben Bengston paces the offense with four home runs and 36 RBI. Ashton Bardzell also has four long balls, and Erik Ostberg has driven in 33 runs. Collin Ferguson leads the staff with a 2.14 ERA, and Brian Murphy has struck out 40 batters. Murphy and Kyle Gauthier paces all pitchers will six and five wins, respectively. Hartford leads the conference with a .300 batting average, and is second with a 4.03 ERA.

Following the Hawks' series win in the first meeting of the season, the River Hawks hold a 11-6 advantage in the series.
