LOWELL, Mass. – UMass Lowell senior goaltender Kevin Boyle (Manalapan, N.J.,) has been named the Hockey East Stop It Goaltender of the Month for March/April after winning four of six post season starts as the River Hawks battled their way to the NCAA East Region Final.
 
Boyle went 4-2-0 in the month of March, earning playoff wins against Boston University (two games), Providence and Yale, with a 1.75 goals against average and a .944 save percentage.  He stopped 202 of 214 shots. 
 
Boyle made a career high 58 saves in the Hockey East Tournament triple overtime marathon semifinal 2-1 victory over Providence College.  The 58 saves are a UMass Lowell Division I record and second all-time behind Mike Geragosian's 62 saves against Vermont in the 1972 ECAC Division II playoffs.  Friday's game was the longest in River Hawk history.  Boyle was named Hockey East Tournament MVP after going 3-1-0 with a 1.24 GAA and .958 SV% in four games.
 
He also backstopped the River Hawks to a 3-2 overtime win against Yale in the opening round of the NCAA East Regional.  Boyle stopped 35 of 37 shots in that game.
 
The 6-2, 200-pounder was honored by Hockey East as a co-winner of the league's Player of the Year Award. He was the first player ever so honored while being named a Second-Team All-Conference selection. Boyle posted a 24-10-5 record, 1.83 goals-against average (GAA), .934 save percentage (SV%) and seven shutouts with the River Hawks this season.  Boyle is one of five finalists for the 2016 Mike Richter Award, given to the nation's most outstanding goaltender.
 
Following the conclusion of the UMass Lowell season Boyle signed a one-year entry level contract with the National Hockey League Anaheim Ducks.
