Stony Brook, N.Y. – The River Hawks got a season high three points from sophomore

UMass Lowell is now 2-11 on the year, and 0-5 in conference play. The win gives Stony Brook double digits in the win column, now at 10-3. Their 3-1 conference mark is good for second in the America East.

Stony Brook jumped out to a quick lead, scoring twice in the first four minutes. After some hard fought back and fourth, the River Hawks got on the board thanks to a
Sean Tyrrell (Calgary, Alberta) goal, his team leading 18
th of the season. Stony Brook answered right back, with Brody Eastwood scoring his second of five goals in the game. With 2:30 left in the quarter,
Eric Robbins (Merrimac, Mass.) found Matt Balter (West Sand Lake, N.Y.) to bring the River Hawks back within one, but the Seawolves would find the net nine seconds later. Another Stony Brook goal in the final minute put the score at 5-2 through one quarter.

Following up their late goal in the first, Stony Brook held momentum by striking quickly in the second, scoring 47 seconds into the quarter.
Keenan Koswin (Winnipeg, Manitoba) answered at the 11:20 mark with an unassisted goal. Stony Brook then rolled off three straight goals in the next 10 minutes to make it a 9-3 game. The River Hawks, who have been dangerous offensively in the last two minutes of halves, stayed true to form, scoring with 8 seconds left. The first of
Brandon Luitwieler's two goals make it a 9-4 game at the break.

UMass Lowell changed goalies at the half, brining in
Gregory Ponce (West Islip, N.Y.). The freshman made five saves in the third quarter, but the Seawolves outshot the River Hawks 14-3, and scored a trio of goals while blanking UMass Lowell for the period.

After Stony Brook scored to start the fourth, the River Hawks offense woke up getting back-to-back goals within 90 seconds of each other.
Jon Phillips (Delta, British Columbia) capitalized on a man-up opportunity with 12:36 to go in the game. Just over a minute later, Matt Balter netted his second, making it a 13-6 game. Stony Brook would get 2 more goals from Brody Eastwood, before Brandon Luitwiler finished the scoring with 2:42 to go.

Grant Lardieri (Ada, Mich.) got the start, stopping 6 shots in 30 minutes of play. In second half action,
Gregory Ponce made 7 saves in his River Hawk debut.
