LOWELL, Mass. – The UMass Lowell baseball team takes on Marist on Wednesday, before hosting a three-game series with Hartford Hawks for the River Hawks' America East home opener.

River Hawk Recap
The River Hawks (9-10) defeated Holy Cross, 5-3, on March 23 before getting swept by UMBC in three games from March 26-27. Zack Tower (Auburn, Mass.) and Steve Passatempo (Medford, Mass.) homered against the Crusaders and Retrievers, respectively. Passatempo, Oscar Marchena (Miami, Fla.) and Joe Consolmagno (Worcester, Mass.) each had two RBI in the week's action. 

Leading the Flock
Consolmagno leads the team with a .333 average and 22 hits. In the middle of the order, Steve Passatempo (Medford, Mass.) powers the offense with six homers and 19 RBI. Chris Sharpe (Burlington, Mass.) leads the team with five doubles and has driven in eight RBI. Consolmagno and Ian Strom's (Hopedale, Mass.) have eight stolen bases apiece, and Ben Prada (Laurel, Md.) has five each as the team is first in the league with 37 steals. On the mound, Ryan leads the staff with a 3-2 record with a 2.83 ERA and 22 strikeouts. Kuzia and Kendall Pomeroy (Shrewsbury, Mass.) have two wins on the year, while Brendan Long (Naples, Fla.) has fives saves with one win. UMass Lowell is batting .232 as a team, and posts a 3.27 ERA as a staff.

Scouting Marist
Marist (9-10, 3-0 MAAC) has won four in a row and seven out of 10, including a three-game sweep of Quinnipiac to open conference play on March 24-26. Greg Kocinski leads the offense with a .325 average and 12 RBI. Joey Aiola has connected on two home runs and adds 11 RBI, while Frank Gregoire has a team-high 16 hits and Graham McIntire has scored 17 times. On the mound, Sean Keenan is 3-2 with a 3.72 ERA and 26 strikeouts. Through 14.1 innings Ryan Thomas has a 1.26 ERA, and Charlie Jerla has also struck out 26 batters. As a team, the Red Foxes are batting .235 and have a 4.77 ERA.

Scouting Hartford
The Hawks (14-5, 2-1) are riding a six-game winning streak and battle Holy Cross on March 29 and Yale on March 30, before coming to the banks of the Merrimack for three games against UMass Lowell. David MacKinnon leads the team with a .423 average and 30 hits. He is second with 16 RBI, with Ben Bengston on top with 18. The duo also leads the team with 2 home runs apiece. Aaron Wilson has four stolen bases in six attempts and has walked 14 times. On the mound, Collin Ferguson has a 0.75 ERA in eight appearances with three saves. David Drouin and Kyle Gauthier have three wins, with Gauthier having a complete game to his name. As a unit, the Hawks are batting .280 and post a 3.59 ERA.

Series History
The River Hawks defeated the Red Foxes in the teams' only meeting, a 8-5 victory in 2014. UMass Lowell owns a 10-4 mark against Hartford, with the last meeting resulting in a 3-1 win in 2015.
