LOWELL, Mass. –
 The UMass Lowell baseball team heads out to Worcester for non-conference mid-week clash at Holy Cross on March 23 (5 p.m.), before heading to UMBC to open up the America East slate from March 26-27.

River Hawk Recap
The River Hawks (8-7) split their four game series with the NYIT Bears in their home opening series at LeLacheur Park. Joe Consolmagno (Worcester, Mass.) went 8-for-12 (.667) with five runs scored and two RBI. He stole three bases in three attempts, as well. Brendan Long (Naples, Fla.) and Nick Kuzia (Seymour, Conn.) picked up the wins for UMass Lowell, with Kuzia's coming in his first career complete game. The sophomore struck out a career-high eight and didn't allow a run in the 8-0 win victory in the third game. 

Leading the Flock
Consolmagno leads the team with a .412 average and 21 hits. In the middle of the order, Steve Passatempo (Medford, Mass.) powers the offense with five homers and 15 RBI. Chris Sharpe (Burlington, Mass.) leads the team with five doubles and has driven in eight RBI. Consolmagno and Ian Strom's (Hopedale, Mass.) have eight stolen bases apiece, and Ben Prada (Laurel, Md.) has five each as the team is first in the league with 32 steals. On the mound, Ryan leads the staff with a 3-1 record with a 1.08 ERA to lead the conference, he has recorded 22 strikeouts. Kuzia has two wins on the year, and Brendan Long has four saves with one win. UMass Lowell is batting .230 as a team, and posts a 3.07 ERA as a staff.

Scouting Holy Cross
Holy Cross (5-12) recently snapped their four-game skid after taking two at Yale last weekend, topping the Bulldogs 8-1 and 4-2 in the three-game series. Alex Voltik is pacing the squad with a .327 batting average, including a team-high three home runs, while Nick Lovullo is first on the team with 12 runs, 11 RBIs and 10 walks, while sitting second on the team in doubles (4). On the mound, Justin Finan leads all pitchers with a 2.95 ERA and only four walks, despite his 0-2 record so far this year. Brendan King has tallied a team-high 29 strikeouts with a 2-1 record. The Crusaders are batting .244 as a team, and post a 3.91 ERA.

Scouting UMBC
The Retrievers (6-10, 1-1) won their last time out, defeating Stony Brook 2-1, in their first conference series of the season. UMBC hosts Navy on March 23 before the weekend series with the River Hawks. Kevin LaChance leads the team and ranks second in the NCAA with a .485 average. The shortstop has 32 hits, 21 runs, four home runs, 14 RBI and 10 stolen bases to lead the team. Jamie Switalski and Andrew Casali have driven in 12 and 10 runs, respectively. On the mound, Jacob Christian has won two of his appearances with a 3.71 ERA. Conrad Wozniak has a team-high 17 strikeouts and Denis Miskush leads the staff with a 3.00 ERA. As a team, the Retrievers are batting .307 and posting a 5.66 ERA.

Series History
The contest at Holy Cross will mark the fourth game against the Crusaders. The all-time series is tied at 1-1-1, and the River Hawks won the last meeting, 11-5, in 2003. UMass Lowell is 5-1 all-time against UMBC with a two-game winning streak, the River Hawks have outscored the Retrievers 45-21 in the series.
