LOWELL, Mass. – Forwards
Nick Master (Broomall, Pa.) and
Ryan Lohin (Chadds Ford, Pa.) tallied their first goals of the season as the UMass Lowell men's hockey team (5-2-2, 1-0-0 HEA) took down Vermont (4-3-1, 1-2-0 HEA), 4-1, for their first conference sweep of the year, Saturday night at the Tsongas Center in front of 5,152 fans.

"It is very difficult to get four points in Hockey East. Vermont is a very difficult team and we were able to get it done in the end, I'm proud of the team." said Head Coach
Norm Bazin. "We are pleased to have four different guys contribute when it comes to scoring and I believe that special teams' was key tonight."

For the second time in the series, the River Hawks got on the board first when Lohin connected with Master at 5:51 in the opening frame on a power play opportunity. With Master's goal, UMass Lowell has now scored first, in seven of its eight games this season.

After going one-for-two on power play chances and outshooting the Catamounts 11-5, UMass Lowell held the 1-0 edge after the first 20 minutes of play.

The second period saw a two-goal performance after the two squads traded goal. UMass Lowell struck first as Lohin registered his first career goal to give his team the 2-0 advantage before Vermont's Rob Darrar cut the visitors deficit to one, 2-1, with just under four minutes remaining in the period.

After picking up a helper earlier in the contest, forward
Jake Kamrass (Atlanta, Ga.) added the eventual game-winner to give the River Hawk's their third goal of the game. With eight minutes remaining in regulation, forward
Joe Gambardella (Staten Island, N.Y.) tacked on an insurance goal, making it a 4-1 game. Kamrass finished the night with a game-high three points (1g,2a).Â

Vermont's Brendan Bradley rounded out the scoring with a power play goal at 16:17 in the third, but the Catamounts couldn't catch the River Hawks as UMass Lowell completed the series sweep with a final 4-2 score.

Dylan Zink (Madison, Wis.) each produced two points in the victory for the River Hawks.Â

Tyler Wall extends his record to 6-1-1 overall, 2-0-0 HEA, after racking up 27 saves in the outing.

UMass Lowell continues its Hockey East play on Friday, November 11 for the first game of a home-and-home series at Maine, slated to begin at 7 p.m. at the Alfond Arena.
