BINGHAMTON, N.Y. –
The UMass Lowell women's soccer team (4-9-2, 2-5-0 AE) faced a 1-0 setback at Binghamton (6-8-2, 2-4-0 AE) Sunday afternoon in its final road tilt of the season.

"Today was a disappointing result. We had a lot on the line in terms of our goals and we didn't execute," said Head Coach Joel Bancroft. "Our start was bright and we settled in and started to take control of the match. Give credit to Binghamton and their staff. They continued to work even when things didn't go their way and that was a major theme of the match. They were always going to need help and we gave it to them in the form of a key turn over in front of our goal."

Binghamton logged the contests lone goal with a tally from Jocelyn Acor in the 38th minute. Acor netted the game-winner, beating Schneider to her left, after picking up a loose ball in the box after a River Hawk turnover.

UMass Lowell was held to just two shots in the first 45 minutes of action and earned two corner opportunities but failed to net the equalizer as they trailed the Bearcats, 1-0, heading into half time.

"We had a good response in the 2nd half and worked hard to get the penalty kick awarded," explained Bancroft. "Being on the road in a crucial conference match up I am very pleased we were able to engineer this moment however, we didn't convert. You cannot win consistently with these behaviors. We will look to return home and work hard to end our conference play on a high note."

The visitors saw more offensive production in the second half, notching five shots and three corner opportunities. The River Hawks best scoring opportunity though, came in the 65th minute when Morrier stepped up to take a penalty kick after a Binghamton foul. The midfielder saw her chance to even the score denied by the hands of goalkeeper Katie Hatziyianis who picked up two saves in the game.

Sophomore Jaymee Luke (Las Vegas, Nev.) paced all River Hawks with two shots, while junior Rachel Morrier (Plaistow, N.H.) accounted for the squads only other shot on goal. Sophomore Julia Schneider (Bridgewater, Mass.) finished the day with two saves in net and falls to 3-9-1 on the year.

The River Hawks return to action on Sunday, October, 23 for a 4 p.m. matinee against conference foe New Hampshire during Alumni Weekend.
