LOWELL, Mass. – The UMass Lowell women's basketball team hosts the Vermont Catamounts on January 18 at 1 p.m.
Looking at the River HawksThe River Hawks fell to the UMBC Retrievers, 68-44, on January 16.
Lindsey Doucette led the way with 10 points and eight rebounds.
Kayla Gibbs grabbed a game-high 11 boards to go along with eight points.
Nicole Riddick added eight points and registered a game-high two blocks. With her 10-point performance, Doucette extended her double-digit streak to 12 games.
Leading the FlockThe UMass Lowell offense is led by a trio of players averaging double-digits this season. Doucette is leading the way with 14.1 points, and 9.3 rebounds per game.
Kayla Gibbs is scoring 12.4 points per game with 8.4 rebounds, while Hayner is scoring 10.3 points.
Asia Mitchell-Owens is connecting on 40.0 percent (26-65) of her three-point attempts, and
Melissa Frase has dished out 41 assists to facilitate the offense. On the defensive side of the ball, Doucette has 11 blocks and 19 steals. As a unit, UMass Lowell is shooting 350-of-910 (38.5%) from the field and 31.3 percent (85-272) from three-point range.
Scouting VermontThe Catamounts, losers of five-straight, are still looking for their first conference win (5-12, 0-4). Andreana Thomas and Sydney Smith are leading the attack, scoring 13.5 and 10.5 points per game, respectively. Thomas leads the team with 3.6 assists per game and 29 steals. Smith is grabbing a team-high 5.4 boards, as well. Candice Wright instills a net presence with 27 blocks on the year.
