Photo GalleryLOWELL, Mass. – The UMass Lowell baseball team fell 9-0 to the Stony Brook Seawolves in game three on Senior Day, Sunday afternoon at LeLacheur Park.
The weekend set were the final America East games for the River Hawks, finishing their second season in the conference with a 10-10 record.
The Seawolves (29-14, 16-4) jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first when T. Handley tripled to score the leadoff hitter and scored on a sacrifice fly. Chris Bake singled to right field to right field to score the final run.
The visitors added four in the third, followed by one in the fourth and sixth.
UMass Lowell (14-26, 10-10) was left without a hit until
Kelly Rooney (Upton, Mass.) blooped a single in front of the center fielder in the seventh.
The hosts threatened with two on in the bottom of the eighth but could not get in the scoring column.
MacEachern pitched seven innings of one-hit ball with five strikeouts to earn the win, while
Geoff DeGroot (Wesley Chapel, Fla.) was handed the loss.
The River Hawks continue their season with a mid-week non-conference battle against Northeastern on May 12 at 7 p.m.
