After a nine-game homestand, the UMass Lowell baseball team takes to the road for a single-game against UConn on Wednesday before a three-game weekend series at Hartford.
LAST TIME OUT: The River Hawks couldn't capitalize on their opportunities in a 5-3 loss against Brown at LeLacheur Park on Tuesday night. The club had two key opportunities with the bases loaded, but came away with just one run
SHUFFLING THE LINEUP: The River Hawks have moved Wednesday's game against UConn up from 3:30 to 2 p.m. in an effort to avoid potential thunderstorms which are forecast in the Storrs, Conn. area.
SERIES AGAINST UCONN: This is the first meeting between the Huskies and River Hawks.
SERIES AGAINST HARTFORD: Last year the Hawks came to LeLacheur Park and took two of a three game series from the River Hawks. Hartford took the Saturday doubleheader, 8-6 in the opener, and 5-2 in the seven-inning nightcap before UMass Lowell edged them 3-2 on an Ian Strom walk-off single to right.
LUCKY 13: Shortstop Danny Mendick's single up the middle in the fifth inning against Brown on Tuesday extended his hitting streak to 13 games and now has a hit in 25 of the teams 29 games. The senior has also reached base safely in fourteen straight games with both streaks being the longest for any River Hawk this season.
FINAL STRETCH: With 14 games remaining, the River Hawks currently sit in the middle of the pack in the America East Conference standings, entering Wednesdays action in fourth place. Nine of the remaining games are against AE foes as the River Hawks have three-game sets against Hartford this weekend, Albany next weekend and Stony Brook, May 9th and 10th.
