River Hawk ReviewThe River Hawks were defeated by UMBC, 19-2, on Saturday afternoon.
Taylor Sokol (Hopkinton, Mass.) scored her 10th career goal, and
Gabrielle Zorkers (Quincy, Mass.) added her second career tally.
Courtney Barrett (South Burlington, Vt.) stood tall in net, making 13 saves, two shy of tying her career-high.
Jumping for JayJesse Jay (Amherst, N.H.) leads the River Hawks with 13 goals and seven assists for 20 points. She has recorded at least one point in 10 games, and has six multi-point games.
Protecting the NestBarrett leads the America East and is third nationally with 132 saves. Her 10.15 saves per game also lead the conference, and rank fourth in the nation. She also has team-highs in ground balls (50) and caused turnovers (19). Barrett is also averaging 3.85 ground balls per game to lead the America East and rank third in the nation.
Beginning of a New EraIn its first year of competition, UMass Lowell's roster consists of 21 freshmen, two juniors and one sophomore.
Scouting BrownThe Bears won their last time out, defeating Columbia 7-6, to improve to 6-6 overall and 1-4 in the Ivy League. Lauren Toy leads the offense with 23 goals and eight assists for 31 points. Kellie Roddy has made all 12 starts in net, and carries an 8.64 goals against average with a .464 save percentage.
