River Hawk ReviewThe River Hawks played their closest game of the season, making a second-half comeback bid before falling,7-6, to Sacred Heart.
Emily Wright (Avon, Conn.) led the way with a two-goal effort, her first career multi-point performance.
Taylor Sokol (Hopkinton, Mass.) scored her team-leading fifth goal of the season, and notched her third assist.
Sokol Setting the StandardAlong with leading the team in scoring, the midfielder is tied for the team lead with three assists and has eight points. Sokol has three multi-point games, and is the only player to score in each game so far this season. Her 11 total shots and eight shots on goal pace the team, as well.
Protecting the NestCourtney Barrett (South Burlington, Vt.) recorded 10 more saves at Sacred Heart, and has made 50 so far this season. She also leads the team in both ground balls (15) and nine caused turnovers.
Beginning of a New EraIn its first year of competition, UMass Lowell's roster consists of 21 freshmen, two juniors and one sophomore.
Scouting ManhattanThe Jaspers are in the midst of a three-game losing streak since winning their season opener. Megan Yarusso (8 g, 1 a) and Donna Jo DiNorcia (7 g, 2 a) are powering the offense with nine points apiece. Christina Fiorinelli has made all four starts in net, recording 28 saves and a goals against average of 15.30.
