LOWELL, Mass. --
The UMass Lowell hockey team set a new regular season average attendance record of 5,385 at the Tsongas Center this season.

The season began with standing room only crowd of 7,326 for the home opener against Boston College - setting a record for student attendance (2,354).

"It is simply astounding to see our attendance continue to improve with our program," said UMass Lowell Head Coach Norm Bazin. "We feel we have the best fans in the country and they continue to prove it."

The River Hawks boasted six standing room only crowds over the seventeen game regular season. The previous record of 5,381 was set in 2013 - the year UMass Lowell captured the Hockey East regular season title. UMass Lowell has hosted a total of 91,548 fans, which was best among Hockey East teams over the course of the season for hockey and could reach the 100,000 plateau for the first time ever with a best-of-three home playoff series next week. The River Hawks ranked third among Hockey East teams in average attendance.

Tickets for the Hockey East Quarterfinals at the Tsongas Center are on sale now through the Box Office, by phone at 866-722-8780 or online at TsongasCenter.com. The best-of-three series will take place Friday, March 13, Saturday, March 14 and Sunday, March 15.
