LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. – The UMass Lowell women's lacrosse team was defeated by Siena College 18-1, on Wednesday afternoon.
The Saints (2-4) scored four quick goals in the opening 2:51 of game time, including the first goal just 42 seconds after the opening draw from Lauren Smith.
With the help of four goals by Alyssa Treanor and three from Smith, Siena built an 11-0 lead before the River Hawks (0-6) could break through with under three minutes remaining in the first half.
After UMass Lowell maintained possession in the Siena end for a couple of minutes, Jess Jay (Amherst, N.H.) saw an opening, ran around a defender and fired a high shot past Danielle DeLisio with 2:59 on the clock. The attack has scored six goals and has the team lead in points with 11.Â
Treanor added three assists to her four goals to end the game with a game-high seven points. She added a game-high five ground balls.
Courtney Barrett (South Burlington, Vt.) had a team-high four ground balls for the River Hawks, and
Kristy Robertson (Kingston, N.H.) recorded three.
Barrett made six saves on 34 shots, and
Olivia Wisner (Sylvania, Ohio) played over 10 minutes of relief in the first half and recorded two saves.Â
The River Hawks are back home on March 14 for a 1 p.m. battle against the Quinnipiac Bobcats.Â
