River Hawk ReviewThe River Hawks took their first lead of the program's history just 1:44 into the game against Iona, and later doubled the lead at 2-0, before falling 12-6.
Devon McKercher (Vestal, N.Y.) tallied the opening goal on
Kaylan DiModugno's (Deer Park, N.Y.) first career assist and point.
Taylor Sokol (Hopkinton, Mass.) added her team-high fourth goal of the season. McKercher and
Jesse Jay (Amherst, Mass.) both set career-highs with three points.
Protecting the NestCourtney Barrett (South Burlington, Vt.) tied her career-high with 14 saves, and has made 40 saves so far this season. She also leads the team in both ground balls (10) and eight caused turnovers.
Beginning of a New EraIn its first year of competition, UMass Lowell's roster consists of 21 freshmen, two juniors and one sophomore.
Scouting Sacred HeartThe Pioneers sit at 1-2 on the young season after snapping their two-game losing streak with a 8-5 win against Holy Cross. Sacred Heart dropped a decision to Iona 15-5, earlier in the season. Caitlin Delaney leads the team with three goals and five assists for eight points. Paige Hammick has a team-high 17 saves, Kelly Keenan has five.
