River Hawk ReviewIn their home opener, the River Hawks fell to No. 6 Boston College 24-4.
Taylor Sokol (Hopkinton, Mass.) scored her third goal of the season, and added her first two career assists. The midfielder has now scored the first ever goal in program history and the first home goal, as well.
Emily Wright (Avon, Conn.) scored her second career goal, while both
Devon McKercher (Vestal, N.Y.) and
Jesse Jay (Amherst, N.H.) added their first career tallies.
Protecting the NestCourtney Barrett (South Burlington, Vt.) has made 26 saves so far this season. She also leads the team in both ground balls and caused turnovers with seven.
Beginning of a New EraIn its first year of competition, UMass Lowell's roster consists of 21 freshmen, two juniors and one sophomore.
Scouting Iona CollegeThe Gaels enter the matchup with a 1-1 record, after defeating Sacred Heart and losing to Central Connecticut State. Erin Pugh leads the team with six goals and six points. Casey Palmer has dished out a team-high three assists and collected five ground balls. Blaire Nathanson has played both games in net, making 21 saves with a .423 save percentage, and a 7.50 goals against average.
