Looking at the River HawksUMass Lowell (7-6-0, 2-2-0 AE) split a pair of conference games last week, defeating Stony Brook, 2-0, before falling at Albany, 2-1, on Oct. 17.
Jay Marchand (North Andover, Mass.) scored the game-winning goal against the Seawolves and
Jacob Fitzgerald (Pepperall, Mass.) added his first goal of the season.
Guilherme Rodrigues (Lowell, Mass.) notched his second goal of the year in the losing effort against the Great Danes.
Wuilito Fernandes (Praia, Cape Verde) leads the team in scoring with four goals and three assists for 11 points. Rodrigues and Marchand both have six points (2g, 2a). In net for the River Hawks,
Austin Kroll (Baltimore, Md.) has recorded a career-high six shutouts with 38 saves and a 1.15 goals against average.
Scouting VermontThe Catamounts (7-5-2, 2-1-1) have not been defeated in their last three games (W, W, T) and are in a three-way tie atop the conference standings. Brain Wright leads the offensive attack with seven goals and five assists for 19 points. Second on the team is Stefan Lamanna with 11 points (4g, 3a). In net, Greg Walton has made all 14 saves and has a 1.33 GAA with 44 saves.
Head Coach Christian Figueroa on Vermont"Vermont will be a tough opponent, especially on the road. They're a dangerous group that can take advantage of mistakes and do a good job in transition. We've got to focus on coming out strong to match their intensity."
Scouting BrownThe Bears (6-5-1, 1-1-1 Ivy) were defeated by Harvard, 1-0, their last time out on Oct. 17. Jack Hagstrom has five goals for 10 points and four players have two assists for Brown. Erik Hanson has made nine starts in net, posting a 1.26 GAA with 38 saves.
