VESTAL, N.Y. – The UMass Lowell (4-17, 1-4 AE) volleyball team dropped a five-set decision against the Binghamton Bearcats (5-15, 2-4 AE) on Friday night at West Gym. The set scores were 25-23, 16-25, 26-24, 20-25 and 13-15
After allowing four consecutive points to the Bearcats to trail 8-5 in the first set, the River Hawks countered with a run on their own to take a 9-8 lead and never lost the lead.
Set two was a back-and-forth affair, with Binghamton building a 23-21 lead, before UMass Lowell scored two straight points. With the River Hawks down 24-23 two errors and a kill from
Haley Shimon (Des Moines, Iowa) sealed the set, 26-24.
Shimon lead the team with 17 kills and a .350 hitting percentage. Co-captain
Rachel Arnason (Kelowna, B.C.) set two career-highs with 16 kills and 18 digs in the losing effort for the River Hawks.

Lindsey Visvardis (Homer Glen, Ill.) recorded her seventh 20-dig performance with 22 digs, while
Lauren Bennett (Wilmington, Mass.) controlled then net with seven total blocks.
UMass Lowell continues on the road with a match at Albany on October 18 at 2 p.m.
