LOWELL, Mass. - UMass Lowell placed 82 student-athletes on the America East 2013 Fall Honor Roll, which was announced by the conference office on Thursday.
 
The America East Honor Roll recognized student-athletes who have obtained a semester grade-point average (GPA) of 3.00 higher. Student-athletes who achieved a 3.50 GPA or higher were named to the Commissioner's Honor Roll.

The River Hawk's 82 student-athletes were the second most, in the nine member conference, behind the University of New Hampshire who placed 114 student-athletes to the America East Fall Honor Roll.

UMass Lowell had 36 student-athletes named to the Commissioner's Honor Roll. 
 
Seven River Hawks record a perfect 4.0 grade point average for the fall semesters including senior Christopher Favulli (Shrewsbury, Mass.), junior Aaron Martin (Nashua, N.H.), Grad student Zachary Nelson (Albany, N.Y.), and senior Benjamin Pare (Methuen, Mass.) of the men's cross country team; freshmen Jennifer Pisarik (Chelmsford, Mass.) and Jaclyn Solimine (Haverhill, Mass.) of the women's cross country team and sophomore Colleen Corliss (Pittsfield, N.H.) of the women's soccer team.
 
Based on percentage field hockey topped the list with 17 members or 81 percentage of its roster; good for fifth highest team percentage in the America East Conference.

America East is proud to have one of the most comprehensive academic awards programs in the country. In addition to the honor roll, an All-Academic team comprised of student-athletes that excel both academically and athletically is chosen in each of the conference's 19 sports by a committee consisting of faculty athletic representatives, academic advisors and sports information directors. Additionally, a scholar-athlete, someone who distinguishes his/herself as the top student-athlete in his/her sport, is awarded. From that group, one male and one female is selected the America East Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Finally, the Academic Cup is awarded to the school with the highest cumulative GPA among its student-athletes for that academic year.

The America East Conference provides its member schools and their athletic programs a platform upon which student-athletes can achieve both collegiate and life success through the promotion and nurturing of athletic excellence, academic achievement and leadership, on and off the field.
