LOWELL, Mass. – The UMass Lowell Student-Athlete Advisory Committee will host the "Adam Keenan Ugly Sweater Party" during the basketball double-header on December 10, as announced by the athletic department on Friday.
Adam Keenan played just one season with the River Hawk baseball team, but left a lasting impact. In 2011, he unexpectedly passed away from cardiac arrest while out on the field playing the sport he loved. Every year since his passing, SAAC members have come together to hold a fun event on campus to raise money for "Adam's Team."
This year's event will include raffles and a grand prize for the Ugliest Sweater. The raffle will take place throughout the night at the basketball games and prizes include a pair of Boston Bruins tickets, a gift basket of official UMass Lowell team gear and a basket of Adam's favorite snacks and candy.
Winners do not have to be present to win and raffle tickets can also be purchased at Fox Dining Hall on Monday and Tuesday nights. All proceeds will go to the American Heart Association.
SAAC is asking that all in attendance wear an ugly sweater to support the event. The ugliest three, as chosen by the fans at halftime of the men's game, will take home gift cards to local restaurants – the perfect holiday prize.
The women's game tips off at 5:30 p.m., and the men follow at 8 p.m.
Head Coach
Pat Duquette has led the men's team to six-straight wins, for an overall record of 6-2. The women's team, behind Head Coach
Jenerrie Harris, is in the midst of a three-game winning streak, as well, to sit at 3-3.
Tickets for all home games are available now through the Tsongas Center Box Office, online at TsongasCenter.com or by calling 866-722-8780.
