LOWELL, Mass. - Nearly 70 River Hawks have received admittance to the America East chapter of Chi Alpha Sigma in the conference's inaugural season with the organization. The America East conference announced back in February that a new chapter had been established with Chi Alpha Sigma, an honor society that recognizes student-athletes for their academic excellence. The America East became just the fourth conference to open a Chi Alpha Sigma chapter, and in its first year of existence, 69 River Hawks have received admittance due to their success in the classroom.
Â
To receive membership, student-athletes must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.5 and be in a junior academic standing. The average GPA amongst UMass Lowell's inductees was a 3.8 for the 2025-26 academic year, with representation from 13 programs. Membership in Chi Alpha Sigma grants student-athletes a multitude of benefits, including awards, access to long-term support, and scholarship opportunities.
Â
UMass Lowell is proud to congratulate all those who have been inducted this year, as they are honored for their superb work both on and off the field. The UMass Lowell Chi Alpha Sigma class of 2026 will be the first of many to come, as student-athletes will continue to strive for elite academic performance.
